Randy Rust Photographer

Growing up on the Central Coast of California, I was surrounded by art that consisted of music and paintings. Also, another form of art included our family outings, we would take Polaroids of the family.
Anothe memory was after my grandparents retired the trips they took, and after the trips we would all gather for a weekend of fun at their home in Orange County. After dinner on Saturday my grandfather would set up a slide show and present the slides he took on their trip.
It was not until I was an adult attending Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria that I found that same passion my grandfather had for photography. In 1998 I took my first photography class, Photo 110, and after some struggles in the beginning something clicked in me. After taking several more classes I knew that photography would be my calling.
Another early memory was going to Yosemite and seeing the beauty of nature. While there I would go to the Ansel Adams gallery, and was mesmerized by his work. It wasn not until later when taking an advanced photography class that I realized what an impact he had on my art.
Photography has also helped me see the beauty of the Central Coast of California, and wherever I travel. I try to capture those “Special Moments” for all to enjoy when they view my work.
Thanks to my instructors, Joseph Dickerson, David Passage, Jacoby Kam and Nancy Jo Ward for all their help and encouragement in my creativity. Also thanks to my parents and wife for letting me pursue my passion as a photographer.
